First Time on the snow?
For people that have never been on a skiing or snowboarding holiday,
the prospect can be a very daunting one! With so many options on what
equipment to use, what lessons to have, what lift pass to buy, it's
easy to see why people can be very nervous of going on their first winter
sports holiday.
At Ride & Slide we'll try to take as much of this anxiety away
as possible. We will be on hand to provide as much friendly advice and
hints & tips as you require.
The list of clothing to bring, can seem endless but don't worry. Take
a look at the new Vans range of technical outer wear at www.vanssnow.com
to see the latest styles on the slopes. For their first ski or snowboard
holiday most people beg/borrow a jacket and bottoms. Shops such as TKMax
or Matalan often have bargain deals on previous years jackets &
bottoms so sometimes it can be easier/cheaper to buy than to hire clothing.
Most people own fleeces so the only real things left to buy are a set
of warm & waterproof gloves, a hat (silly ones optional!), a set
of thermals, and a couple of pairs of board or ski socks.
Then you'll need a set of skis or a snowboard and a set of boots. We
can offer in house hire of equipment either through our React Snowboards
test centre or through our good friends at Ski
Mobile.
Next, you'll probably be looking to have lessons of some sort - a few
lessons are almost essential if you're skiing although some snowboarders
tend to do things the hard way and for-go the lessons! We work with
a number of British & French ski and snowboard schools in both Morzine
and Avoriaz, and can provide help in arranging and booking your lessons.
Please look at our links page for web links
to the ski & snowboard schools and contact us if you would like
any advice or help in arranging and booking your lessons.
The only other thing that first-time skiers or snowboarders need to
remember is that these holidays are fun! The Ride & Slide staff
will do their utmost to ensure your holiday runs smoothly and you enjoy
every minute of your time in the mountains.
Please feel free to contact us with absolutely
any questions you may have, no-matter how ridiculous you think they
may be! |
